New Vita Limited Edition T-shirts.

| February 20, 2009

The Life of a Coffee Seed
Caffe Vita commissioned local artist Robert Mercer to investigate the curious life of the coffee plant, from seedling to cherry ripe fruit. The result is a series of three limited edition t-shirts. Vita will be releasing these hand screened shirts one at a time over the next few months.

The Seed - February 20th. (shown above)
The Flower – April 20th.
The Fruit – June 20th.

Robert Mercer has drawn and designed many of the things we see daily in the Northwest. But we were particularly inspired by the illustrations he crafted for recording artists The Shins on their album Wincing the Night Away.

VITA LOFT DINNER WITH THE MASTER MUSICIANS OF JAJOUKA

| February 17, 2009

VITA LOFT: master musicians of jajouka: feb 18th

on february 18th we begin the VITA LOFT series with a rare opportunity to raise a glass with the master musicians of jajouka from morocco. caffe vita has partnered once again with one pot to bring more thoughtful-provocative-conversation-and-dining to seattle. coffee culture has always included the heated exchange of progressive ideas – on that bedrock we have built this series. In the coming months expect dinners with authors stephen rinella, paul collins, luis alberto urrea, nina plank, tom standage, a short list of leading songwriters, and we are working on getting jane and michael stern and marco pierre white back for a return visit.

mick jagger summed up the master musicians of jajouka rather succinctly “one of the most musically inspiring groups still left on the planet”. i will be cooking all day with the eight famed moroccan master musicians – and the night will include much music, a feast, and a conversation with bachir attar, the leader of the master musicians. this dinner is a fundraiser – all proceeds go directly to the mmj in their effort to cross the u.s. and share the ancient music of the blue djebala foothills of northern morocco.

dinner and fun. $70/person. wine provided.

One Pot featured in Gourmet.

| February 15, 2009

from Caffe Vita collaborator One Pot:

“an insane 32 mile trek across the hinterlands of LA covered by gourmet…

check out alex van buren’s engaging article on gourmet.com – alex was brave enough to join me and two other unlucky souls on a 32 mile walking expedition across los angeles (with tables strapped to our backs). we knocked on strange doors to access citrus trees and backyard gardens, and successfully “harvested” enough food on our 36 hour journey to cook an elaborate meal on a traffic island in the shadow of disneyland. this outing, the video footage, and the artifacts of our trek are part of the remarkable exhibition called SUDDENLY now on display at the pomona college museum of art.”

THEO BLEND. IN STORES. ONLINE. DRINK.

| February 6, 2009

Caffé Vita and famed local chocolatier Theo Chocolate spent months working together to develop this lush blend – which pairs beautifully with chocolate but also has the charm of a superb daily cup. Our lead roaster Mason Sager and Theo’s master chocolate roaster Laura Johnson sampled and cupped hundreds of coffees from around the world. Roast profiles were finely tuned,
countless chocolate samples were paired, and ultimately a clear blend began to emerge.

This coffee showcases two distinct coffees – a Fair Trade organic coffee from the foothills of Peru, and a Fair Trade organic coffee from the dense jungles of East Timor. Expect warm, enticing aromas of sweet vanilla and mild tobacco. Delicate herbal tones up front layered upon hints of baking spice and subtle smoke with dark chocolate undertones throughout. And a sweet, supple medium to full bodied coffee balanced with moderate acidity tapering in to a smooth, lingering finish. 100% Organic and Fair Trade Certified coffee.

BUY ONLINE – or at any CAFFE VITA.
