Caffe Vita and Cremant host Andrew Will Wine Feast.
| March 10, 2009
Brendan Mcgill the talented new chef at Cremant will be cooking a four course meal inspired by the work of MFK Fisher. Each course will be paired with a delightful Andrew Will wine. Winemaker David Oldham will be on hand to discuss the award winning vintages.
“Andrew Will’s wines have virtually perfect tannins. They are present but buffered by the loads of dominating sweet fruit. [The wines] blend power with elegance, concentration with finesse, and supersweet fruit with definition.” R. Parker.
$80/person. gratuity not included. location: cremant.

Caffe Vita and One Pot head to Sumatra.
| March 9, 2009From our collaborator One Pot:
on sunday night caffe vita and i head off over the horizon for the fourth part in our global mini series whereby we cook with, feast with, and delve into the (sometimes dark) realities of coffee production with coffee farmers around the world. this episode has us headed to the jungles of sumatra – and up tangled roads into the aceh region which became a household name during the 2004 tsunami. when we return expect a series of dinners where we will be sharing what we learned. one such dinner is happening on april 9th in collaboration with the burke museum and UW – i will be in conversation with professor max savishinsky and archeologist peter lape about life after the tsunami, guerilla warfare, corporate responsibility, and (as it turns out) coffee. details tba – stay tuned.

Guatemalan Farm Direct Coffee Arrives.
| March 2, 2009The highly anticipated new crop of CAFFE VITA FARM DIRECT FINCA NUEVO VINAS has just landed here in Seattle. This coffee has been shipped to us directly from our friends in Guatemala, an extremely dedicated 4th generation coffee farm nestled within the lush rainforest/ volcanic region of Santa Rosa, Guatemala. (for an essay about our first trip to this farm – click here)
An exemplary farm of environmental stewardship and sustainability that clearly shows through from seed to cup. In continuing support of CAFFE VITA FARM DIRECT, our friends at FINCA NUEVO VINAS invited us to visit the farm this past January and allowed us the incredible opportunity of experiencing the entire life cycle of this coffee as well as meet the people who work tirelessly throughout the year to bring this exceptional coffee, exclusively to CAFFE VITA here in Seattle. Truly an experience of a lifetime!
(Portions of this journey can be seen on video display at all of our CAFFE VITA locations throughout Seattle. To see the video from our first voyage to this finca click here)
This is a 100% certified organic coffee from the first Rainforest Alliance certified http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifcoffee farm in Guatemala. A delicious cup of coffee with enticing aromas of citrus, honey and caramel- balanced with a light medium body, moderate acidity and sweet citrus/honey and floral notes from first sip and lingering throughout the finish.
We look forward to sharing this coffee with you, it is available at all of our retail locations as well as our online store by clicking here…
