Caffe Vita and the Washington Restaurant Association Seattle Chapter present the third annual Seattle SoundBite. Twelve Seattle restaurants will sell a lineup of “street-style” bites, alongside the musical performances of the winning bands from our first online public vote which took place on the Seattle City of Music website earlier this year.

SoundBite was created along side Caffe Vita to highlight the unique relationship that restaurants and musicians share, and celebrate hard-working foodservice employees. The charities this event supports reflect a commitment to developing youth both in the music and the foodservice industries.

Also on the evening’s menu is a special headlining performance by Seattle country-rock darlings, The Maldives (whose members work at Fuel Coffee, Conor Byrne and Tango), with Shawn Stewart of 103.7 The Mountain as MC and DJ Darek Mazzone of KEXP keeping the party going between sets.

Winners of this years call for entries includes: Amsterdam who’s members work at The Melting Pot, Velcro Mindset who’s members work at Glendale Country Club and Sam Russell and the Harborrats employees of TASTE Restaurant at Seattle Art Museum.

SoundBite takes place Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Showbox SoDo. This years restaurants include Via Tribunali, Bastille, The Pike Street Fish Fry, Quinns and many more. For more information and tickets click here.

Café Weekend is committed to fostering Artspace’s mission and understands the importance of the Hiawatha Lofts to the Jackson Place Community & the surrounding neighborhoods.

Feel free to swing by and show your support to the local community and your neighborhood Cafe.

“Christa Thomas & Nhon Truong have opened Café Weekend in January of 2009 in the Hiawatha Lofts after being displaced from their Rainier Cold Storage/ Georgetown studio. Growing up with the community dynamic of our parents & grandparents who have lived alongside Rainier Ave/ Beacon Hill & greater Seattle neighborhoods since the 40′s. We felt that not only moving our studio to Hiawatha Lofts in the N. Rainier Valley to encourage our own professional growth, but fostering another generation of community was a natural step. ” – Owners of Cafe Weekend

Seattle Weekly: Geraldine’s Counter whips up one of Seattles Top 5 Omelets.

| March 11, 2010
Geraldine’s Counter, 4872 Rainier Ave. S., 374-8717. Resting in the heart of Columbia City, this bright, trendy diner (and sister restaurant of Capitol Hill’s “modern comfort food” spot Table 219) offers its breakfast menu all day–a very good decision. The Herbed Omelet folds, you guessed it, fresh herbs right into the eggs and features caramelized onions, goat cheese and an optional add-in of smoked salmon for one of Seattle’s richest breakfasts. Top it off with specialty toast from Columbia City Bakery and perfectly cooked hash browns, wash it down with Caffé Vita coffee and be ready to conquer the day. Or take a nap. Your call.

Exploring The Path From Coffee Plant To Coffee Cup With Caffe Vita

Q13 FOX News Online

March 1, 2010

SEATTLE – Maybe you have the occasional cup with dessert, or when you’re out with friends catching up on the latest news and gossip. Or maybe you brew yourself a thermos-full every morning before work. Whatever the case, there is a lot that goes in to creating that perfect-tasting cup of coffee, and we went to the folks at Caffe Vita on Capitol Hill to show us what the process entails.

From selecting just where to purchase the beans from, to the way those beans are roasted, there are many different elements that go in to creating just the right taste. Some say coffee has just as many (if not more) flavor notes than wine. So it’s not surprising that with “cupping,” coffee lovers can do a tasting just as wine lovers can.

Caffe Vita is just one of many locally-owned coffee shops in the Seattle area. They hand-roast their own farm direct coffee, and you can stop by one of their locations to taste it for yourself! (Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, Fremont, Seward Park, and Olympia.)
