In 2007, Sean and Arelene Heitkemper rescued a dive bar and brought craft wine and beer to the San Fernando Valley. Bar ONE quickly became a respite for folks weary of endless freeways and strip malls, yearning for quality and culture.
Four years later, after much feedback from locals, the Heitkempers are bringing great coffee and good food to their favorite hood. SteamPunk is serving up Vita along with delicious breakfast, lunch, and small plates in the evening.
Vita trainer Ross was on hand last weekend for Steampunk’s soft opening, just in time to develop a few coffee cocktails over at neighboring Bar ONE.
Join us as we celebrate the community where we roast. We’ll be at the 12th Avenue Neighborhood Festival this Sunday, August 12th, as 12th Ave between Madison and Pike are closed for a day of fun.
In its third year, 12th Avenue Neighborhood Festival features Capitol Hill’s favorite shops and restaurants (all bites are five bucks or under). We’ll be serving up Vita cold brew alongside of Via Tribunali’s mobile pizza oven. Stop by for food, music, shopping, and family entertainment.
For more info, go here. We hope to see you on Sunday, Seattle!
We are pleased to report that the harvest in YUS (Yopno-Uruwa-Som) is well underway and that we have begun making arrangements for transportation of this second shipment. We are eagerly anticipating the improvement in quality that is expected thanks to the construction of new solar driers in the villages of Gomdan, Boksawin, Worin, Towet, and Yawan. Sustainable Livelihoods Coordinator Benjamin Sipa recently checked up on the progress and passed along these photos of the new solar driers.
We will be roasting our final batch from the first harvest soon, so make sure and enjoy it while you can!
We spotted Vita on the arm of Nancy Wilson’s right hand man at a recent Heart concert in New York. Jeff Ousley, friend of Vita and Wilson’s guitar tech, sported his emerald city Vita wrist band on stage. Looking good, Coffee Boss.
