Sumatra Earthquake Relief Fund Update

| August 2, 2013

Thank you to all our customers and friends for the overwhelming amount of support and donations made to the Sumatra Earthquake Relief Fund. In the month of July, we have received several thousand dollars in donations from all 11 of our cafes and online customers.  We will continue to collect cash donations through the end of August and will do a donation match.  Please also consider buying a 12oz bag of the Sumatra Gayo River whole bean coffee, a portion of each sale will be donated.  100% of donations go directly into the Sumatra Earthquake Relief Fund!  We sent the first money transfer to the Farmers in Sumatra we have been working with since 1997 and they were overjoyed with the support from all of you:

“Dear Caffe Vita,

Got informed today from Ina and Pak Irham, thank you so much for your donation, transfer was received.  Accordingly, PT.IKA (Irham) will submit directly to our farmers in the damaged quake’s area.

This will be helpful for the farmer’s casualties and for their mental and life recovery.

Terimakasih banyak…Have good days.

Best Regards,

Syafrudin”

Excellence. It’s the Law.

We would love to highlight an amazing Chef and dear friend, Michael Law for his incredible work. He’s currently the Head Chef at The Wandering Goose, and alongside Heather Earnhardt has created incredible, mouth watering delights such as GRITS & GRILLADES (pan seared pork loin, spicy gravy, Boonville grits) and my personal favorite, the HANGTOWN FRY (fried oysters, cured pork belly, poached eggs). Aside from his culinary wizardry, he is hands down one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.

Tonight he is being recognized for his talents by The Seattle Met and Trumer Pils at a dining extravaganza, which includes exquisite cuisine created by the chefs themselves, premium beer, cocktails and live music.  Rising Star Chefs 2013 is only hours away!

You can be a part of this! You have about four hours to purchase tickets, just click the link below and you’re on your way to an incredible evening. If you attend, don’t miss your chance to support Global Partnerships by purchasing raffle tickets to win one of many incredible items, including one-of-a-kind artwork by Steve Jensen, valued at $400! Event is limited to 100 guests, so be sure to get a ticket before they’re gone, and again, congratulations to Michael Law. We know that this is just the beginning!

Los Angeles I’m Yours Reviews Caffe Vita!

| February 27, 2013

Thank you to Los Angeles I’m Yours for this lovely review!

Caffé Vita‘s entrance into the Los Feliz/Silver Lake gateway feels like such a long time coming. Los Angeles has many coffee shops, yes, but there was definitely a bridge needed from the Vermont Starbucks to the Silver Lake Intelligentsia. Since that space inside the Vista is never really open and there was no option for a beverage pre- or post- movie or Rudy’s haircut, Vita’s entry is very well placed. How is it, though? It’s actually super duper nice and mega-chilled out.

The black and gold corner building opened its doors around two weeks ago and did not make too big a showing of it (save for a few free coffees). The exterior is markedly attractive with two murals (one of a gold Pulcinella, their mascot; another of a related monkey serving coffee) and a shining golden flower above the clear red lettered entry. Although the flower is a long time feature of the building, it twinkles in a new light now. It’s a simple statement piece and, save for the dramatic black, fills the old Uncle Jer’s space quite easily. The interior is cool greens, brick, and wood with black counters and accessories to draw the outside in. There is also an upstairs seating level and we did hear rumor of an eventual patio, too.” -Los Angeles I’m Yours
