| July 22, 2014

A$AP Rocky’s pumped for Capitol Hill Block Party, are you?

For those searching for something to do this week, you’re definitely not short on options.

From the REI Village truck coming to our Fremont cafe tomorrow morning from 7-10am, to the Timber Outdoor Music Festival Thursday-Saturday and, of course, Capitol Hill Block Party going on this weekend, Caffe Vita will be all over the place either handing out some coffee or interacting with all of you.

And because we’re really excited about everything going on, we’re letting you know what we’re diggin’ this week to help get you prepped and hyped—so take notes, have fun and we’ll see you all over the place in the next few days.

Gretchen Hackler, Marketing Director: “I’m diggin’ the hike up Tiger Mountain to Poo Poo Point that I recently did. That eight-mile trek gave my booty quite the workout! I earned that Sammie at the top, what a view! I’m also diggin’ the Vita Stage at Summit Block party, excited for this local, free event!”

Gair Wissenbach, Roaster/Manager, New York Lower East Side: “I’m diggin’ our vintage Gothot cranking out batches of batches of Theo to help all us New Yorkers beat the heat.”

Hanna Berry, Manager, Portland Old Town: “I’m diggin’ toddy with the Brazil Sao Benedito, accordion buskers from France, old school hip hop, the Via Tribunali fig pizza special, tie dye overalls, cut off wranglers and letting the good times roll!”

Liz McConnell, Owner: “I’m diggin’ on learning that the philosophy behind Krug Grand Cuvée is the same as Del Sol.”

What We’re Diggin’ on July 15th

| July 15, 2014

What has most of dancing like Will Smith this week? The fact that Capitol Hill Block Party is already next week, with over 100 bands playing in just three, short days.

But besides the fact that some good tunes will be pouring over the thousands of people in attendance from July 25-27—remember to get your tickets—nearly everyone and their mother can’t stop talking about this heatwave that has suddenly come through the Great Northwest.

So when we’re not roasting, drinking or serving coffee, here are the things that some of us at Caffe Vita are diggin’ on this week.

woolley market

Nick Wilton, Sales Rep: “I’m diggin’ the soon to come Woolley Market in Sedro Woolley, WA. Serving Caffe Vita, they will be bringing great coffee, fresh produce and other healthy, locally-sourced goods to the Skagit Valley. If you’re nearby, don’t miss their Grand Opening on Saturday, July 26th!”

Erik Walters, Manager, Pioneer Square: “I’m diggin’ the chance to play a Neil Young Tribute at The Tractor Tavern tomorrow night. Featuring Noah Gundersen, Le Wrens and others, it’s a benefit for Farestart, which is an awesome organization that Vita has worked with in the past. Other than that, I’m diggin’ that Capitol Hill Block Party is right around the corner, the sun, cold beer and a good book.”

Allie Campbell, Manager, Alberta: “I’m diggin’ the 90-plus degree weather here in Portland—or at least I’m embracing it! The roaster is cranking out the heat, we’ve got a bunch of fans blowing in the café, and we’re slanging Theo and Guatemala toddy like there’s no tomorrow. Bruce Springsteen is on blast and so is the sunshine. I’m also diggin’ some iced spicy chai’s and espresso over ice. Oh, and we’re definitely diggin’ any cool breezes.”

Nick Dimengo, Content Creator: “I’m diggin’ on these long, warm, Seattle nights, and going running to the different beaches to get in some swimming. And when I’m not doing that, I’m usually dancing, alone, to James Brown Pandora.”

Rick Friel, Grocery Field Representative: “I’m diggin’ that we’re finally having a decent Summer in Seattle! We deserve it. Also diggin’ on donating Caffe’ Vita coffee again to Beacon Food Forest this Saturday morning. They are making a real difference in the community and I am proud that we are a small part it. Thanks to Gretchen and Reese for helping out. Lastly, I’m diggin’ the new jam by Ace Frehley!

Bob Prince, Brand Champion/Sales Leader: “I’m diggin’ on Caffe Vita’s relationship with Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants.”

Charley Holloway, Sales Manager, Portland: “I’m diggin’ savory crepes for breakfast at Silvermoon Creperie on N. Mississippi. So good. I’m also into finding the perfect swimming hole for weekend fun. Roaring River Wilderness is my most recent discovery. They have a rope swing!”

It’s one of the best weeks of the entire year—and we’re not hesitant in admitting that.

With the U.S. men’s soccer team set to play against Belgium in the World Cup today, the Seattle weather being mid-80s and sunny and the Fourth of July just a few days away, it sure is starting to feel like summer, isn’t it?

And because us folks here at Vita really enjoy doing an abundance of different things—both inside and outside—here are a few things that we’re diggin’ on this week.

Erik Walters, Manager, Pioneer Square: “I’m diggin’ the Artwalk this week, which means big crowds at the cafe. I’m also excited that my project, Silver Torches, is supporting an awesome band from the Bay Area called Geographer at The Crocodile on Friday night, which is also the Fourth of July, and coincidentally, my grandmother’s birthday. She’s 82!”
