Rum Barrel Aged Coffee
The craft of barrel-aging requires careful precision and patience. The experts at Batch 206 Distillery have mastered this craft and accepted the challenge of creating a barrel-aged coffee with Caffe Vita. Using freshly emptied barrels of Elliott Bay Rum, our South American green coffee is aged for four months. Then, the coffee is removed, carefully roasted, and set back in the barrels. The result of this double barrel-aging is something worth the wait— a complex cup with notes of chocolate, oak tannins, charred oak, and vanilla. The secret sweetness comes from the rum’s molasses and is further supported by the caramel notes in the previous-use bourbon barrels.
