United States Barista Competition 2022
We are so excited to announce that Caffe Vita's very own Sam Spillman and Gray Kauffman will be competing in US Coffee Championships at the Speciality Coffee Expo in Boston.
Gray Kauffman is a queer and non-binary barista from Colorado, now in Seattle with a decade of experience in coffee. Currently, they are the Lead Educator for Caffe Vita's cafe at KEXP with La Marzocco. What started as a side hustle fueling them through their BS in Food and Nutritional Sciences turned into a full-blown career in coffee and a deep love for its ability to blend art and science. They have dabbled in working in and studying both beer and wine, but found coffee was truly their drink of choice (an espresso neat to be exact). They are so excited to compete in USBC! Stop and smell the terroir.
Sam Spillman is the Director of Coffee for Caffe Vita Roasting, located in Seattle, WA. She spends most days tasting coffees and and nerding out with Vita's QC team. More than the science of coffee, she fell in love with the service side and its ability to bring people together. She is so excited to compete in Brewers Cup!
